Well finally I managed to discipline myself to get some decent studio time in. I mean to do this you realize I have to get into my studio by 6 am. It felt good though - check that - it felt amazing!! My studio missed me and I missed it.
The more I work on my Fall 2 - the more I like the piece. I love the colors. I love the graphic nature of it. I love playing with value and using my own hand dyes. I love that when I start quilting its only going to look better. This is a series that has legs. And most of all??
I love that its design is done!! Finally! Cool huh?!
Now all that said, its weird for me to like a piece so late in the game. Normally by now I've already decide my art is garbage - that it will never measure up to other fiber out there - that I'll never get better and OMG why in the world did I even bother. Is it too late to learn to knit?
But I finish it anyways 'cause what else will I post on Off the Wall Friday??? - grin!
Once I put it away for a while - I take it back out and hang it and say - "Hey this isn't too bad. Maybe I'm not wasting my time after all."
Its easy to listen to that little voice that says you'll never be any good. Its a bit harder to just tell it to just shut up and mind its own business.
So what have you been up to creatively??

NO...YOU ARE NOT WASTING YOUR TIME!!!
It is always good to get in the studio!
Love your piece. I have got to get back into my studio to.. I have been in a big slump this year.
Your art is never garbage and think this is looking lovely!! I'm glad you have found time in the studio...even if it is at such an early hour! That is commitment! :) Again no art quilts happening around here...trying to get a quilt finished for a machine quilting show deadline...and with the holidays around the corner, my daughters birthday, and LIFE, it is proving to be a challenge!
I have the same feelings of self doubt all the time but then usually once the piece is finished and I allow myself to like it , I feel oh so full of myself (sort of)
I love this series AND your hand dyes.
I also find myself trying to get things done or at least some progress so I have something to post on your blog - so thank you for helping to give me that push or kick in the butt that I need every week. When they say "you kick ass" that's what they mean! Lol!
The additions you have made since your last post are awesome. Finally coming together is a great feeling. Your hand dyed fabrics are beautiful and you have achieved great contrast with them and color combos. Thank you for your hard work setting up Off the Wall Friday, and for asking me to join all of you. AMY
You all are too kind! Its so cool coming home from a 10 hr day of work (which I'm still loving but the Christmas rush is tiring!) and see OTWFriday filling up! Honestly - I'm so grateful that I have a bit of accountability to this group! I could be such a creative slug by myself!
I love the movement in that piece.
