Blessed! Off the Wall Friday
Did you have a nice holiday? I did. Not only was Santa good to me - Very Good - but I had plenty of quiet time to sleep and create. In that order. Lately, due to hormones I'm sure, I haven't been getting a full 8 (does anybody anymore?) - so it was nice to catch up on a few zzzzzzz's.
So what's new? Well Fall II is basted and quilting has commenced. I misplaced my quilting gloves so I had to grab my old gardening ones. They do work just as well albeit a bit heavier. Fall II is a bit bigger than the first one so it seems that not only will this take more time, but its just that much harder to move around for quilt. Still I'm enjoying it - especially listening to a good Susan Elizabeth Phillip's novel.
Ohhhhh guess what my husband got me for Christmas??? A bolt - yes a BOLT - of Kona Pfd. anddddd a box of dyes. He said, "That should keep you busy for a while" Yes - sirey! Gotta love a man who after 20 years has learned what I really want for Christmas without even asking. No diamonds, chocolates, fancy-smacy clothes. No! Give me white fabric just a-waitin' to be dyed. Now if I could get my studio over 75 degrees so that I could do a little Red Solo Cup Dyeing that would be great! Paul said he would loan me his electric blanket that he uses in his woodshop if I promise not to dye it a bunch of funky colors!
Anddddddd Elizabeth Barton emailed us our first lesson for my new Master Class. It centers on Value. Big surprise (she says in her dry wit) since value is so important to good design. Now its all very well to prattle off the saying, "Value does all the work, while color gets all the credit." Its a whole other thing to actual apply it to what you see and evenually create. Maybe its because we so often see without actually looking, but it seems like value is overlooked. So this lesson, attempts to train us to see the value in photos then apply that to new designs. I need to hand in 3 designs for critique by the 10th and those are suppose to be best of the designs - implying that I should do a good few to chose from.
Since next week is New Year's, this week I'm going to reassess my To-Do list and what I want to add to it for 2014.
So what have you been up to creatively?

Woohoo! What a lucky woman you are!!! That man is a keeper! Have fun dyeing everything - including the blanket - oops! haha
Good luck with your new course!
Great present from your husband, the fabric!
I was trying to figure out why you needed gloves to quilt...took me awhile to realize you were working on the machine! Santa was certainly very nice to you--and a Happy New Year!
best, nadia
What a Christmas. Have fun with the course and the dyeing (and all the other things...)
You are a lucky woman!! A happy and creative year to you all.
Btw, there is always a blue cross at my name. Did I something wrong?

Ineke - no the blue cross is what you can click on if you want to delete your link up (in case you made a mistake) - only you can see it!
