But still - I did start sewing down the lily appliques. I found out that rayon - although pretty and shiny has its limitations. Its just not strong enough to go through the thread layers of the appliques and not break in my machine. I switch to polysheen and it was fine. I really like how that last layer of thread color just adds a new detail to the water lilies. Its subtle but effective.I decided that I'm going to put a lot of thread work into the piece to flatten it a bit. That way the lilies will pop and the whole piece won't look too 2-d.
With end of school year activities and company coming - we'll see how much I get done!~

I find that threadpainting has a way of pulling everything together. But it really is time consuming. Hang in there.

This just gets better and better every time I see it. I love looking at thread painting but don't like to do it. And I got rid of all my rayon thread for that same reason. I loved the look but not how finicky it was.
I love watching your process. The colors in the fabrics are great and the thread is going to make everything stand out!!

It's looking lovely! I have the problem where as soon as I see clearly what the steps for something are, I always underestimate the time it will take to accomplish them. Like oh, yes, now I just have to sew around all the flowers. That's a simple straightforward task, shouldn't take long at all....except that there are still 300 of them or something and it does take time!
Wonderful! I love Isacord thread...it is a polyester and comes in oodles of colors.
