And the Ladies Reappear Off the Wall Friday

Finally!  Finally, not only is our house back to its normal schedule, but I get to take the Ladies back out to play!

In case you've forgotten, last year at Quilting by the Lake, I took a class with Rosalie Dace.  Now it was a study on Paul Klee and we were suppose to let him influence our work.  I was really struck by his body of work and one painting, Red and White Domes, really got a hold of me.  I'm not sure if it was the way he used value or the simple shapes or the curves against the squares but I just fell in love.  So with that as inspiration, I ended up getting a good start on the next in Women in Motion Series.  Because of its spiritual nature, I thought it would be a great entry for the upcoming Sacred Threads.

Anyways, after getting the Crosses all faced and labeled, I took out The Ladies and put them back up on my wall.  Its kinda was a mess after spending 6 months in my UFO's pile but it still felt good to see them up.  I started playing with ideas - getting back out the original sketches - pulling out some new fabric.

 

One thing I want to play more with is adding organza to add a nice shadow floating effect to The Ladies.  I mean what lady doesn't feel all pretty in organza?  I have no idea of how I'm going to attach it.  Rosalie had suggested that she sews it down with the quilting line, but I don't know.  But you know one of my favorite sayings, "One design decision at a time"  - so I guess that can wait!

I also want to resolve The Ladies hands - they are way too stumpy for my tastes and they need to be all reaching and graceful - No Problem!  (grin)  Still I guess you're going to have to wait till next week to week to see were this piece is going.

Oh! I did manage to get my Horizon sewing machine back from the dealer - Did  I mention I have the best Janome Dealer ever at Alko Sewing in Mentor Ohio.  He adjusted my baby this week and I had to take my sewing day to go get her - but OMG she's running good.  I swear she hasn't run right since I broke that needle in her free motioning with nylon thread.  Bad Momma!!
