Four Seasons Fiber Show at Campbell's Pottery

Jude's Ogley's Spring Flowers (far left) and Peppermint Snow (far right)

I'm always a little amazed to find other quilt artists (or fiber artists)  who live near me.  I mean, living in a  small town of 1200 doesn't lend it self for this thriving artist community.  Not to mention, even people who have known me for years are still surprise to hear that - yes I make art and yes its with fabric.

So it was a big treat to attend the opening reception of the Four Seasons Invitational Fiber Show at Campbell's Pottery in Cambridge Springs, PA.  From the moment I walked in, my eyes just darted around the room looking at everyone's interpretation of this  year's theme.  And a wide interpretation there was.  Everything from the Abstract to the Figurative, the contemporary to the traditional, the expected to the unexpected (a dictionary turned into a sculpture of a tree - very cool!)  There was eye candy everywhere!

Lynn Fizel's Gray Day

Included in the show were ladies that  I was familiar with like the work like -  Jude Ongley , Lynn Finzal, and Debbie Sementelli.  I also used it as an excuse to get to know a new email friend Lori DeJarnett whose work sold on the first weekend of the show!  It was nice to see what everyone has been doing!

I was happy to see The Beauties hung so nicely.  Is it me, or does all art work look better hung properly under lights in a gallery?

The Beauties

It really is a great show and we are blessed that Campbell's has taken on this yearly event to highlight fiber artists.  The pottery itself is amazing with three floors of pottery and gift items.  There is art for sale in every nook and cranny.  Its the kind of place where you wish you get a gift certificate for Christmas!

The show runs through November 4th.
