Yea know, sometimes I wonder why I keep blogging. I mean, it seems that in this ever-changing world of technology, things come and go. And blogging probably has had its time. Why read a 5-minute post, if you can have 2 minutes of content spoon fed to you on Tik Tok??
Then I remember the main reason I keep going is so that it keeps me going. Without my weekly post, I would just shut down creatively 4 months a year and peak my head out when it turned March.
Is it just me or does it seem that as we get older the weeks go faster? It's like the months just run into each other. And here we are already into February! So, my reset continues.
I happily can report I did finish my studio...
The before....
The After....
The thing about my studio is that it's little but functional. After many failed attempts this set up works the best for me, but the secret is I have to keep it cleaned. Andddddddd the secret to that is everything has its labeled place. So Whaaaaa-Laaaaaaa a Reset!
Also this week, I manage to learn how to use Notion as a catalog for my creative journey. Does anybody else use it to help keep track of your projects? For me, with a blog and pinterest it's a little redundant but I needed it for my Rug Hooking Journey class, so I buckled down and posted my Santa Rug to it. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. So far it seems a little clunky but that could be just because I'm so new to it.
Now that I turned my studio back into a sewing space, it's time to get back after my BOM quilt from 2023! Honestly, I have no idea where I stopped...but I did keep all my fabric together in a bin marked "Project" (one of my smarter moves!).

What Have You've Been Up to Creatively?

I am an ardent blog fan and dislike other social media platforms..I am definitely a "wordy" person who loves to read blog entries and write them...(eg. see my recipe entry yesterday--I mean really??? hahaha).
ReplyDeleteI think your studio makeover looks really great and so functional. I have a super small room but it does have a double closet area where I keep my stash and a set of big drawers (though they are shallow) under my cutting table (which, btw is just a refinished old door my DH made for me that sits on top of the drawers--a reject from the local Middle School's makeover that he salvaged).
My biggest problem is that I am trying to use just this space for quilting, journal making, and hand sewing projects!! I have very little counter space to sit at to work...it is at most times--a very messy place...s i g h . I try to neaten it up, but it all goes to he## when I get "into" a project.
Enjoy your newly set up place ;))) hugs, Julierose
I too need to let words flow! Sometimes it's more than others, but I've written 3 different posts for the future this week. LOL!
DeleteYour studio looks great! One of the best organizing tips is to label all the containers! It saves a lot of frustration when looking for stuff. Happy hooking or stitching!
ReplyDeletewonderful finish - Mine is also in shambles - thanks for the inspiration
ReplyDeleteI keep blogging because it's my own journal of creativity. And I do love the "community" built around the quilting blogs. You have an awesome studio area, even if it's small.
ReplyDeleteI've been blogging since 2008 or so. I love reading blogs of quilters. Keep going!
ReplyDeleteHi Nina Marie, your studio looks great. I'm hoping to do something soon with mine. I blog mostly to keep me organised, remind me of what I've done (memory like a sieve) and in touch with other creatives. It's also a great way to keep in touch with what's happening around the world, even if it's about the weather (I'm Canadian and we care a lot about the weather :-) ) Take care and enjoy your clean and organised studio!
ReplyDeleteI feel like the winter months are a time of more creativity for me. The weather outside is not enticing me to go out... so I pour my energy into creating. Why continue blogging? I do it solely as a journaling process for myself. If others choose to follow along, all the better! Thanks for the chance to share in your party. Studio looks great! I also find that when everything is in place I am calmer and more focused. ;) Blessings!
ReplyDeleteTop notch topic. I agree that you hit on the solution. Keep it cleaned. Have made a real effort to sort and clean at least twice a week on a couple of projects. Fold up fabric, put it away if it has been cut, thread a needle, get it started in the piece being basted, mark a few squares. All ready for this evening or in the morning. What a difference cleaning up has made.
ReplyDeleteI watched many videos published by k3n clothtails and have hand stitched several 4" log cabins, woven some strips, and am sewing together ninepatches that include phases of the moon. Keep it clean. Adds time and organization to this project.
