So first the number drawn by Tessa was 13 - Sandi T of CA whose suggestion was -
"I agree with the Mirror. Great idea and would look so clever. Your giveway is a really nice and thoughtful one. Everyone uses book markers and scraps always are welcomed anywhere, anytime. Thank you for giving all your followers a chance to win. Merry Christmas."
So Congrats go to her and a nice big envelope of silk scraps will be heading her way soon - along with the bookmarkers!
Plus her suggestion of adding a new element isn't a bad one. In fact, lots of suggestions the commenters came up with are going to be given serious consideration. I think we all can agree that the background is too busy and the lady is too pink. Also, the lady needs something to bring her forth. The long arm seems to bother some - but I thought it was funky interesting so I might or might not change that. I do like the idea of tatooing her back and maybe adding a bit of embellishment. I don't think I'll change the palette but I do forsee me cutting this up and changing the composition of the quilt.
I know I won't get back to Sadi till this late spring since I have three shows that need pieces done before June - but its nice to know that all these comments are just sitting there waiting to be considered and tried. You all have given me a lot to think about!
A Big Thank You for all the Suggestions!
p.s. . . . . I'm still taking suggestions if anybody wants to add their comments to this post
I can't wait to see how you work with Sadie!
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be interesting to cut through the background and slide it to the left or right (up or down) to give it a more fractured look on the back. I'm not sure I am describing that well. Just trying to give the plain squares some more interest. Even adding a thin black sashing to the fractures might make it pop.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Sandi!
