Happy 4th Everyone - Thank God for Freedom and this wonderful country!!
Well taking a little break from the Crosses Series, to get working on my Jinny Beyer challenge. You see our local quilt shop has issued a challenge in preparation for Jinny coming to lecture at this year's Quilting Around Chautauqua. They hold this annual event at the famous Chautauqua Institute and there will be over 800 quilts there. The challenge consists of you buying a complete 150 charm set of Jinny Beyer's fabric palette and then making some kind of project with using at least 25 of them. Each charm is 2" by 4" and OMG! they were fun to fan through your fingers! Jinny really has put together a useful line of basics.

I've auditioned a couple of fabric for the base foreground but none seemed just right - so I bet I'll end up painting one. That should be interesting since I've never done that before (grin). I'm also in the process of auditioning the fabrics for the inside of the "cave".
Ya know, this is another one of those projects where its all about value baby!!!

ReplyDeletePainting fabric..........may I suggest... I painted the background of my fish art piece. Didn't like the color blend, so washed it before applying heat. Started to look the way I wanted.
Moral of this is, do things unexpected and you ay be happy and surprised :)

I'll have to come back and follow this quilt as it emerges. Value can be tricky and I'm not totally comfortable with it yet. Will be a teaching moment for me. Thanks!
